What is BOTOX®?

Frequently Asked Questions

One of the most popular botulinum toxin injections is BOTOX—a simple, non-surgical treatment that injects the filler directly into the muscles where treatment is needed. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.

Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you’ve “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes lines is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases. If you choose to not continue treatments, the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows will gradually return to where they were before treatment.

The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better one month after treatment. Results may vary.

What It’s Like to Get Botox

What’s the first step?

The first step in getting BOTOX® in The Woodlands is to contact our office and schedule your free consultation with one of our technicians. When you come in, we will be able to answer any questions or concerns you have and examine the areas in which you are looking to improve. If you agree with your technician’s recommendations, then you will be provided with the cost of your treatment and we will be able to begin your session that day. If you would prefer to reschedule for a time that is better for you, our patient coordinator will be able to do so.

What to Expect on the Day of BOTOX® & Wrinkle Relaxers

Regardless of which treatment you are receiving, your experience should be about the same on the day. Your technician will use a fine needle to inject the botulinum toxin into several targeted areas and gently massage the injection site. You may feel a slight pinch from the needle inserted, but it should be very mild discomfort. If you have any specific questions directed toward your individual experience, your technician will be able to give you full detail during your consultation of what you should expect to experience.

What Other Types of Wrinkle Relaxers Does Seychelles offer?

Dysport®

Dysport injections are one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures performed today due to its easy use and supreme effectiveness in treating common types of wrinkles. These injections can reduce wrinkles of the brow (frown lines), eyes (crow’s feet), lips, and neck. With a series of quick injections, you can see dramatic reductions in these types of wrinkles can be achieved.

The key to Dysport’s success as a treatment is the precise injection into the muscles requiring treatment. Tiny Dysport injections into certain oral muscles can safely prevent the mouth from creasing the skin and forming the deep vertical lines caused by habitual over-pursing. Lychelle has extensive experience treating the lower third of the face and neck areas, which require a great deal of finesse in technique.

A Dysport injection session will last between 10 and 20 minutes, with a majority of our patients seeing improvements in just 2 – 3 days. There is minimal-to-no downtime with results lasting up to 5 months.

Xeomin

Xeomin® is an FDA-approved treatment for adults who want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. This product is made from incobotulinumtoxinA, which is made from the bacteria that causes botulism, but when used in small amounts, is a great way to block nerve activity in the muscles, which prevents frown lines and unpredictable muscle movements. Unlike other neurotoxins, Xeomin has no additives which make there is less potential for developing antibodies that would prevent the neurotoxin from producing the desired effect.

*The product is also known to be used for patients who have cervical dystonia (a condition where your neck muscles contract involuntarily), blepharospasm (uncontrollable twitching or blinking of the eyelids), or moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows

BOTOX® & Wrinkle Relaxers Recovery

What is the downtime?

After you receive your botulinum toxin injection, you will be able to return to your normal activities immediately. You may experience a little bit of soreness, redness, or bruising over the next day or so, but you will soon return to your regular appearance.

We highly recommend that you do not rub the treated area for the first few days as this could dislodge the filler and cause it to migrate elsewhere on your face.
