At Seychelles Med & Laser Spa in The Woodlands, PRP hair loss treatment has become a very popular solution for hair restoration. Hair is all part of a person’s identity. We let it grow, cut it, style it, and color it to create the look that defines us. Sometimes, our hair has a different direction it wants to go – away. If your hair is thinning and you’re not quite ready to completely get rid of it, Seychelles Med & Laser Spa in The Woodlands has just the treatment for you! With PRP Hair Loss Prevention, you can not only stop the loss but even return it to its natural thickness.
PRP /PRF Hair Loss Treatment is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves injecting PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) into the surrounding scalp area. The plasma is obtained via blood draw from the patient that is then placed in a centrifuge. The spinning of the sample allows us to obtain the platelet-rich plasma or fibrin from the sample where the largest percentage of growth factors reside. Platelets contain numerous growth factors which help stimulate collagen growth and tissue regeneration and help increase blood circulation.
Hair follicles survive on the nutrition they get from our blood supply. If we introduce platelets by administering platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) to the area of damaged hair follicles, it amplifies the body’s naturally occurring wound healing response. This stimulates the hair follicle to grow and shed any unhealthy hair.

What to Expect on the Day of PRP Hair Loss Treatment
Blood is drawn in our office as though you are having routine blood testing at the doctor’s office. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge. The centrifuge then separates the PRP/PRF from the rest of the blood. The highly concentrated platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or fibrin (PRF) is then injected into the scalp.
This is a simple procedure that usually takes about 45 mins of office time.
What It’s Like to Get PRP Hair Loss Treatment
PRP Hair Loss Treatment Recovery
Patients are advised not to take any anti-inflammatory medication since it may interfere with the natural healing process of PRP/PRF. Three treatments are recommended with a follow-up treatment done annually. PRP/PRF does not pose any danger of allergy, hypersensitivity, or foreign-body reaction and it is a safe choice for many patients.
Prognosis is generally good, but it varies from person to person. You can expect hair growth to happen in different phases, which will be explained to you upon consultation. Our patients are extremely satisfied and have reported an 80% success rate. PRP/PRF contains many growth factors that stimulate the hair follicle’s growth. PRP/PRF can be used preoperatively, intraoperatively, or postoperatively.

PRP Hair Loss Treatment FAQs
The Hair Restoration process is not very painful, although some patients may find some discomfort during the treatment from the blood withdrawal or injection of PRP. Our technicians will provide you with either local anesthesia or numbing cream to help lessen any pain.
The average patient will need 3 - 5 treatments spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart for the best results. You may also require some maintenance treatments one or two times a year to ensure you can enjoy your results.
You should begin to see a thickening of your hair after the first 2 weeks of treatment, however, the more treatments you receive and the length of time that you allow for the PRP injections to work, you will be able to notice even better, longer lasting results. The usual amount of time required is 4 - 6 months before you notice more aggressive results.
Some of our patients will combine their PRP Hair Restoration treatment with RF Microneedling to help encourage their hair growth. Depending on your aesthetic goals, you may even consider BOTOX or a Chemical Peel to keep your face looking as youthful as your hair. If you are interested in other procedure possibilities, please bring this up during your consultation!
This is a very safe procedure with virtually no side effects since you are utilizing materials from your own body. There are some typical reactions that some patients experience, but they should fade over time. Some of the responses are:
Injury to blood vessels
Irritation during the healing process
Scar tissue formation
If you experience any long-lasting or even concerning side effects from your treatment, please contact our office immediately.
