Your body is strong, durable, and resilient, but sometimes things happen that can cause enough damage that we are left with a constant reminder of the incident. When tissue takes enough damage, your body’s natural healing process can cause scarring when collagen is released to help strengthen the wound. While some people aren’t bothered by the appearance of their scars, others can feel self-conscious or insecure by it, but Seychelles Med & Laser Spa in The Woodlands is offering our patients an opportunity to minimize the look or even get rid of it together! Scar removal through PRP therapy is a completely natural way to return your skin to its original form.
What is PRP Scar Treatment?
Frequently Asked Questions
PRP Scar Treatment – PRP, contains a plethora of beneficial growth factors that will help heal the skin and stimulates the regrowth of collagen and elastin. “Liquid Gold,” a gel-like substance that contains only your PRP. Liquid Gold is called such because it contains only pure platelets, which contain active growth factors. Growth factors send messages to our body’s cells and tell them to start the healing process. By concentrating the platelets and placing them directly in a scar, a wound, or into aging skin we can encourage the body to heal itself.
Here is how Platelet Rich Plasma works: platelets are a natural component of your blood. Their job is to help in making blood clots and in aiding the natural healing process by utilizing natural substances known as growth factors. Growth factors send messages to our body’s cells and tell them to start the healing process. By concentrating the platelets and placing them directly in a scar, a wound, or into aging skin we can encourage the body to heal itself.
What are the benefits of PRP Scar Treatment?
The platelets found in our blood do a host of beneficial things; such as stimulating the regrowth of collagen and elastin, the building blocks of young and healthy skin. When your blood is injected back into your skin, the body naturally begins a healing process that helps rid of scars.
We often recommend PRP as an add-on therapy to laser scar removal treatments, to deliver the best results possible to our scar patients. At Seychelles Med and Laser Spa, we strongly believe that combination therapy is the most effective approach to scar treatment.

What to Expect on the Day of PRP Scar Treatment
The procedure itself is quite simple and quick. A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm and then placed into a centrifuge, which separates the blood into a portion of cells and a portion of plasma, which is a golden-colored fluid that contains the platelets. The plasma is then placed into syringes and activated, which causes the platelets to release their healing growth factors. The serum is then injected into the scar facial area to be treated. Over the next several weeks, the body begins to naturally heal the area by laying down new, healthy tissue and bringing in a rich blood supply.
This treatment is very safe since it uses your blood, which takes away any concern of allergic reactions to foreign substances and the risk of infection.
The therapy starts with a simple blood draw of the patient. It is then delivered to a specially prepared tube. The tube is placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red blood cells.
These separated platelets are then injected into the face, neck, breasts, hands, acne or surgical scars, and scalp for hair loss. It is also used as a topical healing component after laser treatments.
The injections are performed by using very small needles with the client experiencing little to no pain.
The entire process takes about an hour and you can return to your life immediately without stitches, laser burns, or any wound care.
PRP Scar Treatment Recovery
What is the downtime?
You should expect at least one day of downtime. You will go home with the PRP on the scar and will have a blood-like appearance due to the microscopic holes caused by the procedure. The next day you can wash the area. You may have imperfections in the skin for a couple of days, but most clients report you can easily cover this up with makeup. Because the PRP has so many healing properties, your healing is drastically quicker.
Since the PRP has so many growth factors, stimulates collagen production, and elastin and energizes cells, which are the building blocks of young and healthy skin. You should experience a reduction in fine lines, an improvement in the texture and tone of the skin, and an improvement in dark pigmentation.
Seychelles wants to make sure that this is the right procedure for you. We would love for you to come in for a complimentary consult.

We can offer a numbing agent to ease any discomfort during the treatment, and you can take over-the-counter pain medication to help during your recovery.
The number of appointments you will need depends on the severity of your scarring and how your body reacts to the injections. On average, most patients require a minimum of 3 sessions with about 4 weeks spacing each session apart, however, this number can fluctuate. When you come in for your consultation, you will be given an estimated number of treatments you will need, but please keep in mind that you will need to be evaluated every time you come in to see how your progress is coming along.
PRP Scar Treatment is unfortunately a one-and-done procedure and will require time and patience to see positive results. The average patient will begin to see visible results after about 6 months of their first treatment.
