What’s the First Step?

Because you want the laser to be delivered deep into the hair follicle, you want the hair to be as short as possible, meaning we will ask you to shave the day before or the morning of your treatment. The skin should be clean during treatment, and free of any lotions and oils. You may not pluck or wax the hairs for four weeks before treatment, but shaving is ok. Make sure to stay out of the sun two weeks before and after your treatment. You must also refrain from spray tanning or self-tanner on your skin for two weeks before treatment. Finally, please avoid any antibiotics two weeks before treatment.

What to Expect on the Day of Laser Hair Removal

The area of your skin that is to be treated will be pulsed with the Candela Gentle Max Pro. Treatment time will depend upon the area to be treated. The system automatically delivers a blast of cryogenic air before the laser is fired to pre-cool the skin, making the treatment even more comfortable.

Generally, some redness will remain and is normal for up to five days. It can be longer for some patients and shorter for others. Slight swelling may be present in the area that has been treated; however, this should subside within a few hours. Following laser hair removal, you will need to keep the area clean and use sunscreen with at least SPF 15 when outdoors.
